Who is responsible for your data
Moyohuru, based in Tanzania and operating the Moyo Huru app, is the data controller for the personal information described here. That means we decide why and how your information is used, and we are the ones you can hold to this notice. Your trust is the whole point of Moyo Huru.
What we collect
Account information: your name or chosen name, phone number, the email address created for your login, your language and theme preferences.
Advice requests: what you write to us, any files you attach, and the replies from our team.
Payment information: the amount, currency, item bought, the mobile money reference you give us, and the status of your order. We do not see or store your full card details.
Technical information: device and browser information, IP address, and basic usage logs needed to keep the app secure and working.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
To create and run your account and to deliver the guidance you asked for — because we need it to perform our agreement with you.
To confirm payments and give you the access you paid for — performance of our agreement and our legal obligations for records and tax.
To keep the service safe and prevent fraud or abuse — our legitimate interests.
To improve articles, videos and the app — our legitimate interests, using aggregated information wherever possible.
To send you optional updates — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
Hosting and infrastructure providers who run the app and database on our behalf.
Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record for card orders, which processes payments, subscription management, invoicing and tax compliance for those orders.
Mobile money providers, when you pay by mobile money.
Professional advisers such as legal and accounting support, and authorities where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never sell or publish the content of your advice requests.
International transfers
Some of our providers operate outside Tanzania. Where information is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Account information: while your account is open, then up to 12 months after closure.
Advice requests: while your account is open, so you can look back at your own history, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Payment records: up to 7 years, because tax and accounting law requires it.
Technical logs: normally up to 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or stop certain uses, object to processing based on our legitimate interests, ask for your data in a portable form, and withdraw consent for optional messages. Contact us through the Contact page and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, access controls that limit advice requests to the Moyo Huru team, private file storage, and database rules that stop one person seeing another person's data.
Cookies
We use only the storage strictly necessary to keep you signed in and remember your language and theme. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
Moyo Huru is intended for adults. If you are under 18, please use it together with a parent or guardian.
